East Anglian Bull Terrier Club Rules
(These Rules are Subject to the Rules of the Kennel Club)
1. Names & Objects
The Club shall be called the East Anglian Bull Terrier Club and its objects shall be to promote and encourage the Welfare, responsible breeding, exhibition and betterment of the BULL TERRIER.
2. Officers & Committee
The Club shall consist of Patron, President, Vice-President, Hon. Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer,and at least 9 of the Committee shall reside within the Counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex(but excluding London Postal Districts)and the parts of Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire east of a line extending up the M.I. The A43 and A16 to the River Welland and up the river to the South Western corner of the Wash; the 3 remaining committee members from any part of the British Isles; and an unlimited number of members from any part of the World.
3. Committee
The management of the Club shall be in the hands of a Committee consisting of 13 Members who will each
serve for 3 years and be eligible for re-election. The Chairman shall be elected annually from and by the
Committee following the Annual General Meeting. The Chairman, Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer shall
be ex-officiol members of the Committee, of whom the Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting annually.
Meetings of the Committee shall be held as often as deemed necessary and six, including at least one officer shall form a quorum for the transaction of business. The Committee shall have the right to fill any vacancy by co-option, and such member so co-opted shall stand for re-election at the next Annual General Meeting. Any Committee Member missing three consecutive meetings without substantial reason shall be deemed to have resigned. Members are eligible for election to the Committee after two years membership.
4. Election of Members
The right of Club Membership shall be vested in the Committee
5. Subscription
The annual subscription shall be of such sums as the Committee shall decide from time to time and
confirmed by resolution at the Annual General Meeting and shall be payable to the Treasurer on the 1st
January each year. No Member whose subscription is unpaid shall be entitled to any of the privileges of
membership and if any member should fail to pay the annual subscription by 1st March, the Committee shall
have the power to erase his name from the list of members, but if the committee shall subsequently receive a satisfactory explanation the member may, at the discretion of the committee, be readmitted to membership albeit as a new member. New members joining after 1st October of any year shall remain members until the
end of the following year.
6. Club Property
The property of the Club shall be vested in the Committee and in the event of the Club ceasing to exist; a
General Meeting shall be called to decide the disposal of any assets. All Club property shall be insured
against Fire, Theft, Loss or Damage. Trophies can only be accepted with the agreement of the Committee
and must become the outright property of the Club. Competition for Club Cups, Specials etc, shall be
governed by the Special Rules appertaining to each and approved by the Committee.
7. Expulsion of Members
Any member who shall be suspended under Kennel Club Rule A42j(4) and /or any member wnose dog(s)
is/are disqualified under Kennel Club Rule A42j(8) shall ipso facto cease to be a Member of the Club for the
duration of the suspension and/or disqualification.
If the conduct of any Member shall, in the opinion of the Committee of the Club, be injurious or likely to be
injurious to the character or interests of the Club, the Committee of the Club may, at the meeting the notice
convening which includes as an object the consideration of the conduct of the member, determine that a
Special General Meeting of the Club shall be called for the purpose of passing a resolution to expel him/her.

Notice of the Special General Meeting shall be sent to the accused member, giving particulars of the
complaint and advising the place, date and hour of the meeting that he/she may attend and offer an
explanation. If at the Meeting a resolution to expel is passed by a two-thirds majority of the Members present and voting, his/her name shall forthwith be erased from the list of members, and he/she shall thereupon cease for all purposes to be a member of the Club, except that he/she may, within two calendar months from the date of such meeting, appeal to the Kennel Club upon and subject to such conditions as the Kennel Club may impose.
If the Club expels any member for discreditable conduct in connection with dogs, dog shows or trials the
Club must report the matter in writing to the Kennel Club within seven days and supply particulars required.
8. General Business
The financial year of the Club shall be from 1st January to 31st December. A Special General Meeting shall
be summoned by the Hon. Secretary if 10 members send a signed requisition stating the subject to be
discussed; no business other than that on the Agenda can be discussed at a Special General Meeting. The
Rules of the Club shall not be altered except at a General Meeting or Special General Meeting. Any
alterations to the Rules shall not be brought into force until the Kennel Club has been advised and given its
approval of the alterations.
9. Annual General Meeting
a) The Annual General Meeting shall be held not later than 30th April each year at a place and time to
be decided by the Committee and of which due notice of not less than 21 days has been given.
b) The business to be transacted at the Annual General Meeting shall be as follows:-
(i) To approve the Minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting.
(ii) To present the Chairman’s Report
(iii) To receive and, if approved, adopt the Accounts and Balance Sheet
(iv) To elect the Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer in accordance with the Rules
(v) To elect the Committee Members in accordance with the Rules
(vi) To appoint Auditors for the ensuing year in accordance with the Rules
(vii) To transact any other business on the Agenda*
* No business shall be transacted at an Annual General Meeting unless Notice thereof appears on the
Agenda.
c) A notice convening the Annual General Meeting and stating when and where such meeting shall
take place will be sent to members of the Club not less than 21 days before the date of the said
meeting,
the notice shall also contain the following:-
(I) A copy of the Audited Accounts.
(II) An invitation to submit in writing any items or motions for inclusion in the Agenda.
d) Voting at the Annual General Meeting shall be determined by a majority of those members present
and shall be carried out according to the Rules.
e) Nominations for election to any office or to the Committee must be proposed by and seconded by
Members qualified to vote and must be signed by the nominee. All notices for inclusion in the
Agenda of an Annual General Meeting shall be proposed and seconded. Such nominations and
notices shall be in the hands of the Hon. Secretary not later than 14 days before the Annual General
Meeting to which they are relevant.
f) Each Member shall be entitled to one vote: (in the case of joint membership each partner shall be
entitled to one vote) providing they are members before the 1st October of the previous year.
g) Voting shall take place by secret ballot
10. Club Accounts
That a Banking Account shall be opened in the name of the Club into which all revenue of the Club shall be
paid and from which withdrawal shall only be made on the signature of two or more Officers. The Accounts
shall be kept by the Treasurer and an Auditor shall be appointed at each Annual General Meeting who shall
audit the Clubs accounts for the ensuing year before the Annual General Meeting.
11. Kennel Club – The Final Court of Appeal
The kennel Club shall be the final Court of Appeal in all matters of dispute.

The Club shall not join any Federation of Societies or Clubs.
13. Annual Returns to the Kennel Club
The Officers acknowledge that during the month of January of each year Maintenance of Title Fee will be
forwarded to the Kennel Club by the Secretary for continuance of registration and that by 31st July each
year, other returns, as stipulated in Kennel Club Regulations for the Registration and Maintenance of Title of Societies and Breed Councils and the Affiliation of Agricultural Societies and Municipal Authorities (will) be forwarded to the Kennel Club.
The Officers also acknowledge their duty to inform the Kennel Club of any change of Secretary of the Club
which may occur during the course of the year.
14.
If the Club is wound up or ceases to be a Registered Club under Kennel Club Regulations, a final statement
of audited accounts with a record of the disposal of the property of the Club shall be forwarded to the Kennel Club within six months and the persons named as Officers and Committee of the Club on the last return furnished to the Kennel Club, will be held responsible by the Kennel Club for the proper winding up of the Club.
15.
The Club maust make a list of members and their addresses available for inspection if so requested by the
Members of the Club or by the Kennel Club.
16.
No person whilst an undischarged bankrupt may serve on the Committee of or hold any other Office or
Appointment within a Kennel Club Registered Society.
17.
a) This club does not approve the sale of dogs to any country without legislation for the
protection of animals from cruelty, similar in intent to such law in the United Kingdom and which has
no reciprocal agreement with the Kennel Club.
b) This Club does not approve the sale of dogs to such countries knowingly through any third party.
c) This Club does not approve of the sale of dogs to dealers, puppy farms or wholesale kennels.
d) All members of the East Anglian Bull Terrier Club are required to comply with this ruling.
